ABOUT DARGAVILLE
Situated on the banks of the Northern Wairoa River, on the West Coast of Northland. Approximately two and a half hours north of Auckland and located 55kms southwest of Whangarei. Known by locals as the Kumara Capital of NZ, the area is one of the chief regions for growing Kumara (sweet potato). The area around Dargaville is now predominantly a dairy, beef and sheep farming region. It has one of the longest unbroken stretches of sand beach in NZ, and is largely drivable. Other attractions are the Kai-iwi Lakes, Baylys Beach, Glinks Gully and the gateway to the Waipoua Kauri Forest.
